Tokay Boulevard

Seasons of Color
On Tokay Boulevard

We have all enjoyed the beauty of Tokay Boulevard since planted in 2001. It takes many volunteers and money to maintain the ten medians.

Our goal is to have one gardener and several assistants responsible for each median. If this is something you are interested in helping with, please contact Jean Sweet at 233-8190, or JoAnn Prange at 236-0834, or Pam Bell at 238-1890 .

I find myself driving on Tokay Boulevard almost daily. Winter or summer, it's the most attractive way to travel from home to work. But it's hard to keep my eyes on the road and off the median strips separating the traffic lanes.
The Midvale Heights neighborhood has given Madison a blueprint for developing pride of place. In 2001, I watched as folks turned out on a Saturday morning to plant shrubs and perennials in the Tokay medians, under the auspices of the city's Adopt-a-Median campaign.  Since then, they've watered and weeded and watched over their handiwork - turning a community vision into a visionary garden. Midvale Heights' residents can enjoy it close up while the rest of us get a daily dose of drive-by beauty.

TOKAY MAINTENANCE FUND
If you would prefer to help with a donation, we would welcome that too.  What a wonderful way to honor a loved one or donate in memory of someone.  It is the gift that just keeps giving year after year.

Recent gifts to the TOKAY MAINTENANCE FUND are working to continue the beauty of the gardens on Tokay Boulevard which have become a signature of our neighborhood. We have just ordered a few  replacements to be planted by volunteers in Spring 2005.   All gifts will be matched when plants are ordered through People for Parks, so that your gift dollars are doubled!

Consider giving any amount to the Fund as a Memorial gift, to give special recognition, or just because you love the gardens. Gifts to this fund are TAX DEDUCTIBLE. Checks should be made out to Midvale Heights Community Association (MHCA) with Tokay Maintenance Fund noted in Memo line, and mailed to Midvale Heights Community Association, P.O. Box 44426, Madison, WI 53744-4426.
