MIDVALE HEIGHTS COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION BOARD MEETING MINUTES TUESDAY August 25, 2020, 6:45 pm Meeting held via video conference via Zoom due to corona virus epidemic. Present: E. Mackey, C. Kreimendahl, J. Cardin, D. Lamb, C. Wegner, T. Jarvis, R. Rotter, E. Rogers, G. Fischer, J. Lager Also present: Kris Schutte, Nan Lager, Zach Henak Mackey called the meeting to order at 6:48 p.m. 1. Minutes: Motion/2nd to approve June minutes. Motion carried. 2. Mackey noted that the Madison PD would hold a Crime Meeting via Zoom. She will send out the link information via email. 3. Good Neighbor Project postcard: Cardin offered additions which would publicize voter registration/ballot info and our October annual MHCA meeting. Schutte outlined the draft of the post card she had circulated prior to meeting, and noted costs. She suggested self-delivery by our block captains to avoid postal costs, but Board declined that by consensus. Motion/2nd to increase the post card budget to $800. Motion carried. 4. Annual Meeting - Will be via Zoom on 10/27. Discussion about getting a speaker. Cardin will accept suggestions over the next few days and conduct a straw poll. 5. Treasurer’s Report - Rotter reported recent expenses of Board/liability insurance and tree inoculation. Treasury balance is $34,955.61 6. Lamb will have this month’s newsletter prepared next week, so she welcomes any articles from Board members. 7. Legislative Reports - Zach Henak updated the Westgate Mall development which will have primary access from Whitney Way. Next 9/1 Council meeting will hold vote on this project which the Planning Committee already approved. There is a Summit Woods apartment development in the works for the site of the old Post Office on Hammersley. He said the discussed the City/County health directive especially as it affects schools and day care. The Police Oversight Committee proposal is steaming ahead toward approval. City is approving loans to repair and improve downtown storefronts, especially those recently damaged. Zac gave a golf course recap about closing some of the City courses. There is also a Block Grant initiative to address homelessness. 8. Announcements: Marc Fink holds a virtual classical music concert in his driveway at 529 Edward every Thursday at 5:30 pm. Meeting was adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
