MIDVALE HEIGHTS COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION AREA DIRECTORS' MEETING MINUTES TUESDAY February 22, 2022, 6:45 pm Meeting held in-person at Sequoya Library and via Zoom. Present: J. Cardin, J. Walter, K. Walter, D. Lamb, L. Raihala, T. Jarvis, R. Rotter, W. Weber, E. Rogers, G. Fischer, J. Veto, K. Reuter-Krohn, C. Kreimendahl Also present: Cathy Rotter, Darin Harris, Tiffany Malone, Sandy Stark Cardin called the meeting to order at 6:46 p.m. 1. Minutes: Motion/2nd to approve January minutes. Motion carried. Blood Drive - Set for 3/3 at Sequoya Library. Need additional donors ro sign up. Losby explained their PR efforts. Volunteers are welcome too. 2. Treasurer’s report - Treasury balance of $42,069 per R. Rotter. Written report handed out in person included annual spending in various categories and check register. 3. Blood Drive Update - All set for volunteers on 3/3 at Sequoya Library. 30+ donors signed up. Cardin noted that baked goods are welcome. Harris and Malone presented background of black housing challenges and barriers that led to Own It, a family gifting program for assistance with purchasing a home. They encourage MHCA to promote donations and further educate folks on this. See additional info at ownitbbw.com/contribute. 5. Green Team/Lake Wingra Watershed Project - Stark discussed the 5/21 Fair from 1-4 pm at Vilas Park to promote/educate about water quality issues. The Project has grants to promote rain gardens, guide tours and educate the public. There will be good hands-on information for homeowners and groups to initiate additional projects. Weber will arrange a table celebrating related MHCA projects. Motion/2nd to donate the Project $500. Amended/2nd to donate just $250. Amended motion carried. 6. Westside Neighborhood Groups - Cardin announced second meeting Wednesday for some nearby neighborhood associations to discuss collaboration for transit/bus plan in advance of the citywide public input meeting. Will plan to ask City to meet in our region to discuss impact here. Fischer outlined proposals for Westside buses. Our portion of Odana Rd would lose its bus route via rerouting. 7. Snow Sculpture - Cardin said organizers were extending the entry deadline to 3/1 in hopes of more snow. 8. Segoe Concerts - Lamb, Raihala will start lining up four bands. Hope to get/afford a larger port-a-potty. 9. Announcements: Picnic at Segoe. Cardin will contact the organizing committee. Weber reminded us of Green Team program at Library on 4/7 regarding natives, pollinators, gardening and composting. The Tokay median cleanup is set for 4/23.
