MIDVALE HEIGHTS COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION AREA DIRECTORS’ MEETING MINUTES TUESDAY September 27, 2022, 6:45 pm Meeting held in person and via Zoom due to pandemic. Present: J. Cardin, B. Roe, J. Thoreson, K. Walter, J. Walter, E. Mackey, T. Jarvis, L. Raihala, J. Veto, G. Fischer, C. Kreimendahl Also Present: Alder Bill Tishler, Simon Arno Cardin called the meeting to order at 6:48 p.m. 1. Introductions 2. Alder Report: Bill Tishler discussed District 11 issues. City Council capital budget - proposed changes including underfunded Public Market. Instead fought for District 11 storm damage repairs. Opposed Zoning changes for higher density housing along Bus Rapid Transit line. 9/8 Town Hall meeting with City traffic dept. was effective in identifying Area requests, including Odana/Whitney Way funding and sidewalk improvements. Proposal failed to ban police from using tear gas/rubber bullets. Upcoming Town Hall meeting at Sequoya Library on 10/24 will feature Mayor discussing affordable housing. Joining others in support of ordinance to assign historic trees landmark status. 3. Minutes: Motion/2nd to approve August minutes. Motion carried. 4. Treasurer’s Report: Rotter’s report (distributed in absentia) showed $41,291.05 in funds. 5. B Cycle: Cardin noted Library Foundation’s maneuver to get B Cycle stand installed this fall at Sequoya. Seeking sponsorships to total $12,000. No action by Board. 6. Garage Sales: Coordinator Michelle relayed that it was a great success esp. Friday. She wants funding for sandwich board signs to replace old ones. Check with Rotter on possible cost. 7. Newsletter: Cardin says Beilke heard from veterinarian who wants to advertise. Discussion about not having advertising since we are going online only. 8. Annual Meeting: Cardin set up wildlife rehab speaker for the 10/25 meeting. Discussion about sending out a postcard notice to all residents. Thoreson will check with Rotter. Cider/cookies as in past with donations welcome. 9. Westmorland Concert: They will avoid Segoe concert dates next year and will coordinate planning/booking with us. 10.
