Board Members Present: Joy Cardin, Jim Thoreson, Tom Jarvis, Ron Rotter, Michaela Utrup, Lacinda Athen, Gregory Fischer, Dustin Beilke, Carl Wacker, Troy Thiel, Bonnie Roe, Tom Jarvis, Janine Veto, John Lager
Also Present: Drew Larson, Cathy Rotter, Karen Thiel, Jean Jelacic, Ann Lager
Time the Meeting was Called to Order by Cardin: 6:01 p.m. Introductions followed.
Agenda Items:

1. Alder Report

  • Bill Tishler attended in person and shared several announcements, including his article in the Midvale Messenger regarding speeding concerns, delays in the Midvale Blvd. resurfacing project and crosswalk project, and February book club discussing “The Art of Community” at February 26, 2025 at 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Sequoya Library.
  • Tishler signed on to a resolution to extend the contract for community gardens and is a cosponsor for the rain gardens.

2. Appoint/Elect 2025 MHCA Officers and Area Directors

  • Cardin nominated Directors/seconded/all in favor, no opposition.
    • Area 5 Co-Directors: Denise Lamb & Carl Wacker
    • Area 9 Co-Directors: Ron Rotter & Lacinda Athen
    • Area 6 Director: Jean Velacic
    • Area 7 Director: Michaela Utrup
  • Cardin nominated Board Directors/seconded/all in favor, no opposition.
    • President: Joy Cardin
    • Vice President: Troy Thiel
    • Secretary: Michaela Utrup
    • Treasurer: Ron Rotter

3. Meeting Minutes

  • January 2025 meeting minutes approval. Motion/2nd to do so. Motion carried.

4. Treasurer’s Report

  • Rotter reported balance of $37,052.21.

5. New Business

  • Midvale Heights resident notified Cardin that she would like to fundraise $8,500 so the Madison Parks Department can buy and install a solar light at the Odana Dog Park. The Madison Parks Department foundation would set up a fundraiser.

6. Old Business

  • Membership drive issues revisited: membership period will be September 1 to August 31; donation levels will be $20, $40, and $80; Beilke to draft May/June newsletter with a membership form to be printed and distributed in early May; membership forms to be reviewed at next meeting.
  • Annual Picnic: Veto will start planning in upcoming weeks; will discuss estimates for food at next meeting.
  • Summer Nights at Segoe: 3 out of the 4 dates have band scheduled (July 11 is TBD); several food trucks are scheduled.
