MIDVALE HEIGHTS COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION AREA DIRECTORS' MEETING MINUTES
TUESDAY June 28, 2022, 6:45 pm
Meeting held in person and via Zoom due to pandemic.
Present: J. Cardin, J. Thoreson, D. Lamb, L. Raihala, T. Jarvis, R. Rotter, J. Veto, G. Fischer, W. Weber, C. Kreimendahl
Also Present: Alder Bill Tishler, Cathy Rotter, Dustin Bielke
Cardin called the meeting to order at 6:47 p.m.
1. Alder Report: Bill Tishler outlined District 11 issues. There is greenspace funding to keep street medians green. Trying to get bike path racks at bus stops. Encourage business development in his district. Closing/Replacement of Hilldale movie theater. Investigating street safety measures. Filling school crossing guard assignments (need guard at Segoe near Van Hise School). Noted Kenosha Dr. reservoir construction. Some new sidewalks will be put in. There are climate change infrastructure projects.
2. MHCA Newsletter: Dustin Bielke offered to take over as editor of the MHCA Messenger. Lamb will train. Motion/2nd to purchase Publisher program copy for him. Motion carried. Discussion about discontinuing print newsletter in favor of online only. Motion to provide print option after current edition was tabled. Lamb will get current edition out online before the Segoe concerts start.
3. Picnic: Cathy said food ran out due to the big crowd, but the separate food lines worked well. All in all it was a roaring success with much positive feedback. Veto said she would help organize it next year.
4. Concerts: Lamb and Raihala reported that the four bands are all set. Food carts did not yet sign up for our event, so if none do, the option for local restaurant carryouts will be publicized. Covenant Presbyterian Church is the rain venue.
5. Website Changes: Jarvis is working on update/transition to new hosting website. Hopes to have garage sale registration working early next month. Email fix is in the works too with Google workspace.
6. Minutes: Motion/2nd to approve March, April and May minutes. Motion carried.
7. Treasurer’s Report: Rotter distributed report showing about $43,000 in funds. Picnic expense was $3,084. TBall has a gift certificate expense to deduct from the approximate $6000 from player fees for about 200 kids. Generator was purchased for the concerts. Concerts price tag is about $3500.
8. Blood Drive: Reminder of Red Cross event at Sequoya Library on 8/11. Volunteers should contact Kathy Losby.
9. Green Team: Weber said Marcel did the table for us at the Wingra Watershed event. He will be hosting a butterfly garden tour soon.
10. Announcements: Raihala said her neighbor was investigating installing a winter ice rink at Piper Park.
